Business System Analysis and
Review Services by Internet Images
Budgeting
is the commonest use of systems analysis. In systems
analysis we take, in the worst case, a black box which
can be defined as any unit or business whose function
may be evaluated without the contents being known, and
bring the clarity necessary to define the individual
parts of the organisation, their relationships and
structure to give a grey box model and ultimately
generate a transparent understanding of the whole. This
is termed a white box.
The process starts from a conceptual understanding of
the business, usually on the part of the managers or
owners and is quickly developed into a mathematical
framework. These frameworks are built into budgets or
engineering models and utilise policy or design rules to
drive the system. Fully worked system models show in
great clarity the impact of major changes to the
business where for instance capital investment is being
considered or where new processes are to be introduced
to well established work flows and cash flows.
Systems analysis can be effectively applied to any work,
engineering , financial, stock or business process. The
judgement as to the value of the analysis is purely
driven by the benefit to the user. In a household
earning £50k per annum the value of dissecting the
weekly grocery bill for £150 is clearly far less
valuable than in a household earning £15k. Similarly a
complete stock control system is of more value to a
business (however small) than to a normal household.
These are basic examples of system analysis which if
taken to the ultimate extreme would ask questions like
who ate the Weetabix, what proportion of it was wasted
and how?
Systems analysis combine deterministic modelling and
probability theory using basic and advanced analytical
techniques brought together through spreadsheets,
databases and flow modelling.
